Santa Clarita Photographic Studio’s fine-art photography is widely recognized for its creativity and technical excellence. The studio’s portfolio contains numerous striking examples.

Among the most powerful images is that of a Los Angeles City firefighter cradling his infant daughter in his helmet.

The studio’s owner Yoti Telio created the portrait, and after showing it to a few influential people around Santa Clarita, received a call from the LACFD.

“They said they wanted to use the image to help promote the department’s safe-haven program for newborns, where any fire station will take in an abandoned baby, no questions asked,” Yoti says.

“The power of photography can be phenomenal, and to know that an image I created as a personal project could now possibly help save human lives is incredible,” he adds. “Nobody can ever put a price on that.”

While the use of black and white in the creation of portraiture is very artistic I seldom discount the power of COLOR in any of my compositions.

In 2003 I was inspired by an American Indian passage found in a wonderful book by Jamie Sams called Earth Medicine

“Every kind of flower carries a different shape and a different color. Every flower knows it is unique as well as beautiful. The lesson that the flowers show their human Sisters and Brothers is one of love without comparison.

The flowers teach us that every color and shape is individual and beautiful. Without fear or shame, the flowers turn their tiny faces up to catch the love and light of Grandfather Sun. They teach their human counterparts to love the differences in shape and form without comparing the beauty of one over the other. The Earth Mother nurtures every plant, for they are all her children. The Thunder-Beings send life-giving rains to water their growth, and all are fed by the light of Grandfather Sun.

It is only human beings who fear that they are less than perfect. They base their unloving judgments upon the authority of other people who are confused, having forgotten that uniqueness and beauty are found in all parts of Creation.”
