Imagine that the baby you hold now will someday want to tell your first grandchild what it was like when he or she was growing up. Our portraits will help you illustrate the story.

I am always delighted when a family looks back on their session and say "we had so much fun that day." Here are a few tips to help achieve that goal and for everything to go smoothly. * Parents! Take a break from parenting. Have fun, loosen up, & and most important, don't tell the kids to smile! Let me do that for you so you can relax and enjoy your children and I can do my job. * Give the little guys (especially 10 & under) a snack before coming, especially if you haven't had dinner yet. Happy bellies means happy children. * If you're afraid your child's clothing may get dirty or wrinkled on the trip to your portrait session, then plan to dress upon arrival. * If we're photographing two or more children six and under, more than one adult is required or we will have to reschedule. Besides, it would be a great opportunity to spend time with an aunt, uncle, friend, or grandparent. * If you feel your child is very shy or takes a while to warm up to strangers, let me know before hand and we can arrange a "play date" so he or she can meet me and play with my "cool" toys. * With the really little guys, scheduling around meals and naptimes is essential. Especially for infants, we should plan for plenty of time for feedings, rest time, etc... * If you have a special pet that you want to bring, go for it. Remember, pets are people too. * If you have any special props like a hat, sunglasses, a toy, scarves, a stuffed animal, etc... make sure to bring them. * Weather is an important part of any outdoor portrait, including yours. Rain could present tricky problems during a portrait session and if it does rain on your scheduled session date, we'll reschedule. If you are unsure, just give me a call the day before or the day of the appointment. * Each of the four seasons provide different qualities for a portrait and the one you choose will determine the overall look. Spring gives us full trees, lots of tall grass, beautiful flowers, vibrant colors, warmer weather, and spring showers. Summer brings greens and browns, full trees and luckily, not a lot of rain. Fall provides us with the beautiful rich warm colors of fall, cooler temperatures, and our rainy season. Winter gives us back our green grass but the trees are bare which makes a few of my sites unusable for large groups during the winter months. * When we are in the middle of a public location and there isn't a restroom for miles, changing clothes can sometimes present challenges. Solution: wear a bathing suit underneath your clothing. Problem solved. * Parents and teens don't always agree on their definition of the perfect portrait. For example: parents like to see lots of smiles and close-ups while teens like more serious expressions and full lenghts. Don't fret! We can take portraits of each idea you have. Smiles for families + relaxed for teens = everyone happy. Just let me know what you want. * If you feel the fun has stopped for any reason, don't hesitate to say so. We can always continue the portrait session at a later date at no extra cost, of course. * Remember (Moms) Don't stress! That's my job. I want you to enjoy this time with your family. The main goal here is to have fun and take great portraits of the people you love.
